WIHSC is an interprofessional collaborative of health, social, and community students from Conestoga College. It was formed on February 9th, 2009, and it includes students from Nursing (RPN & RN), Respiratory Therapy, Paramedicine, Pre-Service Firefighting, Police Foundations, OTA/PTA, PSW, and Social Work. The purpose of this collaborative is to build strong interprofessional relationships between health care students through social and academic events that can be carried over into the workplace. The collaborative has grown since its inception, and we hope that it continues to grow for many years to come because we all benefit when we work together.
WIHSC was initiated to facilitate interaction and relational development of students from diverse health care backgrounds. Our mission is to develop an enhanced scope of knowledge and respect for the diversity and uniqueness of each health care profession by recognizing that we are all important to our own and our future patients’ success.
Our goal is to foster understanding of how different health professions can transfer knowledge and work together to enhance health promotion, prevention and many other health related activities.
